樽前山の南麓に樽前ガローという場所がある。ガローとは「崖の間を川が流れる場所」という東北方言なのだそう。ちなみに道南にある、「賀老の滝」も同様の語源から来ているのだという。
両側の絶壁には数百種類もの苔が生えており、美しいモスグリーンの色調を帯びていた。ひんやりとした空気の中、マイナスイオン溢れる何とも神秘的な場所であった。

"Tarumae　Garou" is located to the south of Mt. Tarumae. "Garou" means "a place where a river is flowing between the gorges" in Tohoku dialect. In addition, the name of "Garou waterfall" that is located in the south Hokkaido, etymologically originates from the same dialect as well.
The bilateral gorges were covered with hundreds of kinds of moss, forming a beautiful dark green tint.
It was a really esoteric place, filled with negative ions in the cool atomosphere.
